Seed Cycling
Seed cycling is the practice of eating specific seeds during different phases of the menstrual cycle to support natural hormone rhythms.
Flax and pumpkin seeds are traditionally used during the first half of the cycle to support estrogen balance. Sesame and sunflower seeds are used during the second half to support progesterone production.
MONA makes the practice simple with pre-portioned daily packs.
Yes, you can pick up seed cycling wherever you are in your cycle. If you know which day your last period was then you can start with the seeds that correspond with where you are in your cycle.
That’s completely normal.
MONA includes extra Phase 2 packs to help support cycles longer than 28 days. If your cycle is longer, simply continue using Phase 2 packs until your next period begins.
We get it, life gets busy and the day sneaks away from us! Don’t worry if you miss a day of MONA. While we recommend keeping on schedule with your packs, if you find that you’ve accidentally skipped a day, just continue the next day with the next pack for your appropriate phase.
Hormone balance takes time. Most people use MONA for several cycles to support their body’s natural rhythm. We recommend a minimum of 3 months to start seeing the effects of seed balancing. Though please note that it can take anywhere from 3-6 months to start seeing noticeable changes. Stick with it and check in with your body often.
MONA
Start Phase 1 on the first day of your period.
Switch to Phase 2 on day 15 and continue until your next period starts.
Then repeat the cycle.
Each pack contains 2 tablespoons of freshly ground seeds. We want MONA to fit into your lifestyle however you see best fit, but freely add our packs to smoothies, salads, oatmeal, yogurt, etc. Follow us on IG or our blog for recipes and MONA useage inspiration!
Any time of day works.
Most people add them to breakfast so it becomes part of their daily routine.
Consistency matters more than timing.
Seed cycling is a practice often recommended by integrative and functional medicine practitioners as a food-based way to support hormone balance. It’s commonly used by women navigating irregular cycles, PMS, and other hormone-related symptoms.
The seeds in MONA provide nutrients like zinc, vitamin E, polyphenols, and amino acids that help support the body’s natural hormone processes.
We've heard from our women that they've experienced improvements in things such as period discomfort, mood, and cycle regularity.
Yes. Your birth control will dictate when your period comes and goes and the level of estrogen and progesterone in your body, but seed cycling will still help. You can still relish in all the positives of seed cycling such as cramp relief, improved breast tenderness, reduced bloating, insomnia, hormonal acne and mood swings. Seed cycling is also a great natural course to take while transitioning off birth control.
While the seeds used in seed cycling and MONA's product are certified organic and generally referred to as safe, we always recommend you speak with your primary doctor to assess any new dietary changes while pregnant.
Our MONA packs are sold as convenient one-a-day seed packs to give you the allotted amount of each seed to experience the benefits of seed cycling. We recommend one per day.
